Q:

When I launch Droid Scan, I see the message "Please insert an SD card*" and the program exits. What is happening?

A:

Droid Scan requires an SD card for storing scans. If your mobile device does in fact have an SD card inserted, the most likely cause of this error message is that the device is connected to a PC via a USB cable, and the PC has access to the SD card rather than the phone.

Steps to resolve:
(1) Use the method recommended by the device manufacturer to unmount the SD card from your PC and remount it on the phone.
(2) Disconnect the USB cable.

*In newer versions of Droid Scan you may also see the message: "Please insert an SD card and/or make certain that the SD card is not mounted on a PC as an external drive."
